NW reinstates bursary scheme to students─── LUCKY NKUYANE 09:29 Sat, 11 Dec 2021
Prospective students in the North West can now breathe a sigh of relief as the provincial government has reinstated the bursary funding scheme for the 2022 academic year.
The North West Office of the Premier released a statement inviting bursary applications from young people who desire to study full-time during the 2022 academic year. The provincial government spokesperson, Brian Setswambung, confirmed that the funding is once again back and they will be awarded to learners who are financially needy and academically performing well.
"These bursaries target current Grade 12 learners and those who have already passed Grade 12 in previous years but never attended due to financial challenges, as well as students who are already at tertiary institutions. The closing date is on 24 December 2021," Setswambung adds.
In May this year, Setswambung, said due to the effects of Covid-19, the office of then premier Job Mokgoro will not be providing bursaries for this academic year because the funds which were earmarked for bursaries, were re-directed to fight the pandemic in the province.
