This has been confirmed by the Head of Investor Relations, James Wellsted, who says operations were suspended for an investigation to determine what led to the incidents which led to the injuries and deaths of four miners.

Wellsted says no feedback on investigations has been received yet.

OFM News previously reported that four miners at the Beatrix operations passed away following tragic accidents on two separate occasions.

On 1 December 2021 OFM News reported that one worker died, and four were injured, whilst two of the four were left critical after a rockfall.

Two days later three more deaths were reported by a well-placed source in the upper echelons of the mining industry.

According to this source, the driver of a front loader on that day had a fatal accident when his loader fell on top of two miners, who died on the scene.

The source told OFM News that the driver of the loader was also among those who died. The brakes on the loader allegedly failed which led to this accident.
