NW to clamp down on illegal schools─── 12:22 Wed, 15 Dec 2021
The North West Department of Education has vowed to clamp down on illegal schools in the province.
The department has issued a strong message to the community about illegally operating schools, which could affect leaners’ progress.
Departmental spokesperson, Elias Malindi, says these unregistered private or independent schools affect scholars’ academic records to a great extent, contributing to drop outs.
Malindi told OFM News that MEC, Wendy Matsemela, has maked a clarion call to communities to report unregistered schools that lure unsuspecting parents into incurring great cost for no value.
Speaking to OFM news, Malindi says these schools are found in areas such as Rustenburg, Potchefstroom and Klerksdorp, however he did not rule out other areas.
Malindi says these schools are disruptive to the educational process, since it makes it difficult to trace leaners’ progress due to lack of proper records.
