Residents must play role in service delivery: NW Premier─── 07:25 Fri, 17 Dec 2021
North West Premier, Bushy Maape, has called on residents of the province to play an active role in helping government to accelerate and address service delivery.
Maape was speaking during Reconciliation Day celebrations in Coligny yesterday.
He says government alone will not be able to change the situation if residents don't play their part.
Various areas in the province are experiencing poor service delivery, and this often leads to protest action, water shortages, and poor drainage systems.
Maape says a permanent solution must be sought in promoting administrative efficiency and financial accountability in municipalities.
"We are now happy to report that Taung Dam will be used within the next three months to alleviate water provision challenges in the Grater Taung local municipality. There is also the construction of a water pipeline, which runs from Bloemhof dam to Mamusa local municipality, and the project will be completed in eight months" said Maape.
He says the primary plan is aimed at ensure basic service delivery such as refuse collection, clearing illegal dumping sites, and making sure potholes are addressed.
