On Sunday the house of a 26-year-old mother of a 3 and 9-year-olds, including her orphaned niece lost all of their belongings in a fire that ravaged their home in Moeka Village in Moretele.

The Moretele Local Municipal's spokesperson, Mothupi Malebye, says investigations to establish the cause of the fire are underway.

Malebye says the municipality has fortunately managed to secure a local contractor to assist in rebuilding the home, and the municipality has already arranged counselling for the affected family.

"According to eye-witness, who is also a neighbour - Veronica Maimela – the fire destroyed everything, leaving behind damages running into thousands of Rand" he adds.

The municipality has since made a plea to any Good Samaritans to help the distraught family.
