Duo to reappear in court for possession of lion's head | News Article

The case against two North West suspects facing charges of contravening the National Environmental Management Biodiversity Act, has been postponed to 16 February 2022 for further investigation.

North West National Prosecution Authority (NPA) Spokesperson, Henry Mamothame, tells OFM News that they were released on bail of R1500 this morning.

It was reported the arrest of Joseph Modime and Emily Mashaba came after they were caught in possession of a lion's head.

They will re-appear in the Zeerust Magistrate’s court in North West, where they also made their first appearance.

The Hawks reported that the two were reportedly seeking a traditional healer to sell the lion’s head to, for an amount of R350 000.

Information further indicated that the sale was intercepted by a police agent who arranged a traditional healer, leading to the arrest of the two at a petrol station in Zeerust.
