Suspects facing charges of assault to reappear in NW court─── BLAINE JONES 11:00 Thu, 23 Dec 2021
A case against two North West suspects facing charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH), is set to commence on 4 January 2022 before the Taung Magistrate's Court.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson, Henry Mamothame, says the court appearance of the suspects, aged 31 and 32, stems from an incident that allegedly occurred at Modimong village at the end of October this year.
This comes after the two suspects, Rebaone Malekanyo and Tumelo Tlonkwe, were spotted by the victim, Tshepang Seelo, and his girlfriend stealing some items at a nearby house.
The suspects accosted the couple and started assaulting them. They subsequently took Seelo and left his girlfriend on the road.
Seelo's lifeless body was later found in a furrow on 3 November 2021.
The duo handed themselves over at Taung Police Station on 2 November 2021.
They will remain in police custody until their next court appearance.
Police are also investigating a case of kidnapping and murder.
