It's another week of darkness in Tshiame, Makgolokweng and Harrismith in the Free State.

Heavy rains yesterday prevented technical teams from working on reconnecting power to affected areas.

According to Maluti-a-Phofung municipal spokesman, Thabo Kessah, generators were on site, but the rainy, muddy and wet conditions at the Greenlands substation made it difficult to work.

Last week, the substation was damaged allegedly by lightning and left residents without electricity.

It is anticipated that the technical team will continue with their work today.

Meanwhile, due to the current persistent rains experienced in and around Setsoto Local Municipality, the community of Senekal and Matwabeng residing near and at the river banks of Sandspruit River, are being cautious of the possible floods.

The municipality requests everyone to be on high alert or temporarily relocate to a safer place as a precautionary measure.

The municipal disaster team is on standby and monitoring the situation.
