Memorial services planned in FS in honour of Archbishop Tutu─── TSHEHLA KOTELI 10:15 Wed, 29 Dec 2021
The office of the Anglican Diocese in the Free State will hold several memorial services in honour of the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
A press statement released by the organisation explains that the first service was scheduled to take place this morning at the St Peter’s Anglican Church in Rocklands, Bloemfontein.
The second memorial service will be held tomorrow at the Church of Grace in Thabong, Welkom.
The life of Tutu will be celebrated in prayer, worship, sacraments, song and dance at these services.
There is a possibility of arranging other services in other Archdeaconries.
Meanwhile, the North West province is also set to join others in honouring the late Tutu with a memorial service that will be led by the provincial premier, Kaobitsa Bushy Maape.
Amongst the list of people, Maape will be joined by the Provincial Chairperson of the South African Council of Churches, Bishop Victor Phalana.
Tutu was born in Klerksdorp in 1931 and was later in 2001 awarded the Freedom of the City of Matlosana, and as a result, he got one of the main streets named after him.
