Man arrested for illegal initiation school in Vaal─── 15:18 Thu, 06 Jan 2022
A 57-year-old man has been arrested in the Vaal Triangle, for operating an illegal initiation school.
The school was operating near Steelpark in Vereeniging. A boy found at the school had to be taken to hospital for treatment.
Vaal police, together with other stakeholders, including the Public Safety Committee and the Sedibeng District Initiation and Traditional Committee, are currently searching around the Vaal for twelve boys who were allegedly kidnapped from their homes, and forcefully taken to illegal initiation schools in the area.
The Chairperson of the Sedibeng District Initiation and Traditional Committee, Spinnare Mofokeng, emphasised no initiation school is supposed to be operating since the beginning of the Covid-19 lockdown.
