According to North West police spokesperson, Adéle Myburgh, the suspect’s court appearance stems from his apprehension on Thursday following an incident where the body of a 34-year-old woman was found inside a house in Extension 11, Ikageng, near Potchefstroom. 

It is alleged that the victim and the suspect had an argument during the early hours of the morning and the neighbours, who heard the victim screaming, called the local police who rushed to the scene where they managed to gain access into the house.

Myburgh says the victim was found lying in a pool of blood with numerous stab wounds to her chest. She also obtained severe head injuries. 

Her 3-year-old son was rescued from the house unharmed. 

The victim was declared dead on the scene by Emergency and Medical Rescue Services (EMRS). 

Consequently, the police arrested the suspect.
