Dysfunction at Soulspoort leaves taps dry─── 05:28 Tue, 11 Jan 2022
The water supply for residents who receive water from the Soulspoort Water Treatment Plant in Dihlabeng in the Free State has dried up.
According to the municipal spokesperson, Tshidiso Maitse, the municipality's technical team is still busy working on the electrical bulk feeder line to the Soulspoort treatment plant.
According to him, the municipality has opened the flow of the water that was left in the reservoirs at 05:00 on Monday, which ran dry at 08:00. As a result, the water treatment plant is still non-operational.
"This was done so that the residents could have access to water in the morning for basic use," says Maitse. He points out that due to the low levels of reservoirs, residents living in high-lying areas might not have running water.
He says, however, that water tankers will supply water to all affected areas. Maitse advised the residents to save water in containers for domestic use.
