Drugs, weapons discovered at Vaal schools─── 10:39 Fri, 28 Jan 2022
Concerns have been raised after drugs and weapons were recovered at various schools in the Vaal triangle.
The discovery follows after the Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Faith Mazibuko, together with other stakeholders, were observing learning and teaching at Vaal schools.
In Evaton, a grade 7 learner from the Kitso Primary School was found drinking a soft drink that was mixed with cough syrup.
The MEC is calling on parents to monitor their children after drugs, including dagga and crystal meth, as well as weapons, were discovered during the observations.
Mazibuko says the school governing body (SGB) must be actively involved to ensure protection, and parents must give support to the learners.
