It is alleged that both trucks were travelling towards Kroonstad when they collided last night. 

According to police reports, the driver of one of the trucks was rescued and taken to the hospital whereafter he passed away. 

The driver of the other truck escaped the accident without any injuries.

According to police spokesperson, Stephen Thakeng, the information they received indicates that the truck driver, who was in front, was hit by the truck behind him. He then lost control and swerved off the road and the truck at the back caught fire. But he was rescued by a good Samaritan. The fire escalated to the truck that was parked beside the road, but the driver managed to escape unharmed.

A case of culpable homicide is being investigated. 

The road has been cleared and trafficking is moving smoothly.
