#UFS returns to online learning | News Article

The University of the Free State (UFS) has temporarily introduced online lessons again, amidst on-going disruptions at the main campus in Bloemfontein.

UFS Marketing and Communication Director, Lacea Loader, says the institution has introduced this interim solution to continue the academic programme in a differentiated and flexible online mode - in some modules - after challenges that have been experienced at the campus.

OFM News has reported on recent events at the university, where protesters have been disrupting classes this week. The South African Students Congress (Sasco) has vowed to continue to demonstrate at the campus until the institution comes to the party regarding their demands.

Meanwhile, Loader adds that the amended arrangements are expected to continue for the next three weeks at most, after which the academic programme will return to the approved teaching plans of 2022.

According to Loader, registered students will be provided with 10GB data to continue with their online learning. She says that computer laboratories will remain open to all vaccinated students whose modules will be online, while face-to-face classes will continue where online teaching is not possible.

She concludes by saying students will be informed by their respective faculties which modules they will be moving online and which modules will remain face-to-face.
