The Free State MEC for Education, Tate Makgoe, will on Tuesday visit the grieving families of School Governing Body (SGB) members and educators from the Sekoko Primary School in Paul Roux who lost their lives in a road accident this past weekend.
OFM News previously reported that four educators and one member of the SGB from Sekoko Primary School lost their lives after a white sprinter minibus taxi overturned on the N5, about six kilometres from Bethlehem in the Free State.
According to the provincial Education Department's spokesperson, Howard Ndaba, the deceased were driving back home after attending a workshop in Tweeling.
He said four people died on the scene, while another died in hospital. Seven other people sustained serious injuries and were transported to the Dihlabeng Regional Hospital, Phekolong Hospital, and Mediclinic Bethlehem.
Ndaba said teachers, parents, and pupils will be offered counselling, whilst the police are investigating the cause of the accident.
