All eyes on #NWbudget─── LUCKY NKUYANE 07:35 Tue, 08 Mar 2022
All eyes will be on the MEC for Finance in the North West when she delivers her provincial budget speech on Tuesday.
Her budget speech comes amidst a visit by president Cyril Ramaphosa who will, with others, assess the impact the national administration had on the province since it was put under the care of the national government. This budget also comes as five departments are under administration for their failure to deliver basic and quality services to residents.
In a statement, MEC Motlalepula Rosho says the budget will cover the administration’s achievements and challenges - particularly those presented by Covid-19.
“This budget speech comes during the mid-term of the sixth administration and as such it will cover the administration’s achievements and challenges, particularly those presented by Covid-19, and strategies implemented by the government to respond appropriately to the deadly virus with the intention of saving lives and livelihood and ensure that we create conducive conditions to set our province on the path of job creation and economic growth,” Rosho says.
She adds key issues expected to be the highlights in the budget include provincial economic outlook; infrastructure development; the provincial expenditure pattern; allocations of funds to departments; an audit improvement plan and a support plan for struggling municipalities.
