Several FS companies to be blacklisted | News Article

The Special Investigative Unit (SIU) has asked for 88 companies and individuals – who did business with government - to be blacklisted in the Free State.

This is according to a presentation by the SIU to the Standing Committee of Public Accounts (SCOPA) in Parliament.

This listing process requires that notice be given to the parties that details the nature, purpose and reason for the proposed blacklisting.

The company and/or individual will then be afforded an opportunity within a certain timeframe to make a representation outlining an appeal.

In response to the appeal, the final decision by the National Treasury will be communicated to the parties. A total number of 506 companies and/or individuals are earmarked for this process nationally. The SIU says there are one party listed in the North West and eight in the Northern Cape.

Blacklisting of service providers follows findings by the SIU against them during investigations.
