#Imbizo: Human Settlement Minister to help homeless family─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 10:30 Sun, 10 Apr 2022
President Cyril Ramaphosa has requested that the Minister of Human Settlements, Moloko Kubayi, attend to the needs of a blind, homeless family.
The 50-year-old head of the family, who lives with his wife and three children, says government has been making empty promises of providing them with their own home.
He also said that blind people are not taken into consideration, especially when it comes to issues of transport and being assisted in shopping malls.
This follows after Kubayi's response to the residents of the Metro during Saturday’s Presidential Imbizo in Bloemfontein, on issues of title deeds and asbestos roofing among others.
Kubayi said that the government has set aside money for an asbestos roofing project that is set to commence this year.
She said that the asbestos roofing project will take three years to complete.
Kubayi also said that the Department will be building 10 000 houses in Vista Park to accommodate some of the residents who were not able to receive houses in Hillside.
Ramaphosa commended the national and provincial departments of Human Settlements for the work that they have done in Mangaung.
"The department of Human Settlements is on the move to build 10 000 houses within a budgetary period. It's quite a lot of work, and a big achievement, and I want to congratulate our provincial government as well as all other structures of our government that are involved in this," said Ramaphosa.

Impoverished residents who have called Caleb Motshabi (also known as “Dinaweng”) their temporary home for some time, watched helplessly as “strangers” allegedly scored housing sites ahead of them at the Klipfontein Farm across from the R702 road, which merges into the M3, despite not being on the list.
The Mangaung Metro had purchased the farm to ensure that residents who have built shacks on top of major Bloem Water pipelines that endanger their lives, can be legally assigned to safer sites.

Kubayi had acknowledged that the department received a report of unfinished projects and as a result, many residents are left stranded after being placed on the waiting list.
Kubayi had also said that the department will have to re-allocate some of the money for unfinished projects in Mangaung so that residents get their houses.
This follows after OFM News reported that Kubayi had vowed to deal with lingering issues of housing and subsidies in Mangaung.
