Solutions to be outlined for a better Free State | News Article

The Free State Provincial Government will meet on Wednesday night to address the issues highlighted during the recent Presidential Imbizo.

Provincial Premier Sisi Ntombela will chair this meeting with the executive council.

The purpose of the meeting is to improve poor service delivery in the province.

The various issues raised by the residents of the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality during the Presidential Imbizo will also be addressed tonight.

The Minister of Police, Bheki Cele, held his Ministerial Imbizo in Botshabelo, where 33 residents also expressed their concern about a lack of security.

Cele promised to undertake another visit to the township in the near future, to see if his instructions have been carried out.

One of his instructions included the deployment of ten police vehicles to the two police stations in Botshabelo; Botshabelo Police Station, and Boithuso Police Station. He stated it is dissatisfying to see less than half of the fleet at police stations working.

OFM News previously revealed that hundreds of brand new vehicles purchased for police stations across the province have been standing idle for up to a year, waiting to be distributed.

The Police ministry explained that about 177 vehicles that have been procured during the last financial year, are still standing at the provincial warehouse to be dispersed.

The Police Ministry also revealed that police stations in Hertzogville and Bultfontein have also been subjected to the same issues as Botshabelo police stations - half of Hertzogville and Bultfontein’s fleet have been standing idle waiting to be repaired.

This was confirmed in an answer to a written question in parliament.
