Free State DA councillor due in court─── LUCKY NKUYANE 12:10 Mon, 23 May 2022

A Democratic Alliance councillor, who was arrested for domestic violence in the Free State, is set to appear at the Petrusburg Magistrate's Court today.
The 39-year-old, councillor, Thabo Vincent Nthapo, was arrested this weekend in Petrusburg. Councillor Nthapo, who is a Proportional Councillor (PR), was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his wife.
DA provincial leader, Roy Jankielsonh, tells OFM News the party has already commissioned its Constituency Head to investigate the matter. Nthapo could find himself in trouble with the party following his arrest on said charges.
His arrest comes amidst concerns about the killing of women and young girls in the country at the hands of their loved ones.
In February Premier Sisi Ntombela urged residents to regain and claim their communities from the grasp of criminals.
She made this statement during her visit to the family of a 65-year-old woman who was found murdered in JB Mafora in Bloemfontein.
Ntombela said the victim, who has since been identified as Nomvula Nthabi, was in her home - where she ought to have been safe.
