Service delivery hinders Mangaung economic growth: ASSD | News Article

The deteriorated state of service delivery in Managaung discourages investors.

This is according to the African Alliance of Social Democrats’ (AASD) Lucky Mongale.

Mongale lashed out during the tabling of the Metro’s budget against Mayor Mxolisi Siyonzana, citing that the council cannot host an investor summit at a municipality in such a sorry state.

He said the Metro is full of potholes and waste, which the metro is currently not dealing with.

Siyonzana stated that president Cyril Ramaphosa had made a mistake in saying that “government does not create jobs, businesses create jobs”. He said this was wrongly interpreted, as it seems like the state has now passed the responsibility on to the private sector.

Siyonzana however said that the metro is engaging with some investors to boost the local economy.

He further said their mobilization of the private sector will constitute an integral part of a new model of service and revenue streams aimed at amplifying utilities such as water, waste, sanitation and electricity among others.
