Protesting truck drivers have now also partially blockaded the N12 road between Bloemhof and Wolmaransstad in the North West.

This development was confirmed by FF Plus councillor in the Lekwa Teemane Council, Albert Nel, and comes after OFM News reported on Tuesday that roughly 100 trucks blockaded the R34 road. It was reported that the truck drivers are protesting against the employment of foreign nationals. Motorists who were driving on the R34 on Tuesday were turned away.

Meanwhile, North West police spokesperson, Amanda Funani, tells OFM News that protesters vowed to close the road until the government responds to their demands. She says that no violence has been reported and no arrests have been initiated.

On Tuesday morning, protestors blockaded the N3 road between Warden and Villiers in the Free State, ostensibly for the same reasons. Free State police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, later gave an update that the road was re-opened for traffic. He said the police were still monitoring the situation following the incident.
