Free State dance sensation struck gold─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 09:00 Wed, 29 Jun 2022

A teenage dance sensation from the Free State has struck gold at the World Freestyle Dance Championship in London, in the United Kingdom, with his freestyle and slow dancing.
The Grade 11 learner, Junior Dilape, from the Curro Bloemfontein High School, previously also won the most prestigious award for Freestyle, beating four world champions in his section.
Free State Education, together with the Free State MEC of the Department of Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation, Limakatso Mahasa, applauded Dilape for having held the South African flag high at the competition - and also representing his province with pride. She encouraged young people in the province to use state-owned facilities that are available in their communities to advance their talents.
In her statement, Mahasa adds that facilities such as Mmabana Arts & Culture Center in Thaba 'Nchu; the Lejweleputswa Arts & Culture Center in Welkom; and Fezile Dabi Arts & Culture Center in Sasolburg are there for the sole purpose of nurturing talent in the province. She concludes that these centers offer freestyle and gumboot dancing, amongst numerous other genres.
