Two females and one male burned to death during the early hours of this morning when a fire ravaged their shanty and burned it beyond recognition. 

According to police spokesperson, Stephen Thakeng, the local police in Theunissen were informed about the incident at around 06:00 this morning. He says according to witnesses the victims came from a drinking spree. It’s suspected that the fire was ignited by a self-made heater, also known as mbawula, as it was found inside the shanty.

"Members responded instantly and on their arrival, the shack burned beyond recognition and apparently there were two females and a male person who also burned to death. The mbawula was also found in the house. A case has been registered for further investigation. The names of the deceased will be made known later," Thakeng adds.
