#ANCvsANC: Leadership blamed for Free State municipal woes | News Article

The ANC leadership in the Free State has been blamed for the continued service delivery issues and trouble-besieging municipalities across the province.

Following Friday’s outcome in the High Court between the ANC's Interim Provincial Committee (IPC) and irate party members - spokesperson for the group that dragged the party to court, Ditaba Mokhutle, slammed the party.

He says the arrogance and ignorance of the leadership has left frustrated residents fending for themselves, whilst leaders are silent on these issues.

Mokhutle adds they have exhausted all avenues to try and engage with the leadership of the IPC, but their efforts and calls fell upon deaf ears - adding the court action was a last resort.

The ANC’s IPC, in a court settlement, has agreed to disband the Mangaung Metro's controversial Interim Regional Committee (IRC).

Outside the Free State High Court on Friday, a large contingent of ANC members wearing the party’s yellow and black regalia had gathered outside to celebrate this outcome.

Over a hundred members sang and chanted struggle songs with those who took the party's IPC to court over its failure to prepare and organise the ANC's provincial conference at a preferred time.

Meanwhile, the former Regional Executive Committee's (REC) Disciplinary Head, Marks Fongoqa, also addressed ANC members outside court and told them that the party had agreed on a road map which will guide the party.

The Auditor-General (AG) Tsakani Maluleke, announced recently that Free State municipalities have continued their wasteful spending of taxpayers' money with irregular expenditure increasing by almost R2 billion.
