The case against three alleged kidnappers, who kidnapped a 26-year-old man in Thabong in the Free State on 19 July, was postponed to 6 September.
Suspects Relebohile Johannes Lebajoa, Rethabile Lebajoa, and Teboho Olifant appeared in the Welkom Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday in connection with the kidnapping.
TimesLive reports the suspects demanded a ransom of R30 000 for his safe return. On the 24th of July information received from Crime Intelligence was operationalised by the Welkom Public Order Police (POP) unit, Thabong Task Team, and Thabong Serious and Violent Crimes' members, leading to the arrest of the trio.
The suspects are facing charges of kidnapping, assault, conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of unlicensed ammunition, and contravention of the Immigration Act.
