Northern Cape police are on a manhunt for suspects who attempted a cash-in-transit heist on Friday morning.

The failed heist reportedly happened in Galeshewe, Kimberley, where residents woke up to the sound of gunshots.

Hawks spokesperson, Nomthandazo Mnisi, confirmed the incident to OFM News and reported that they are still at the scene to gather information.

A four-way intersection at Barkly Road and Seleke Street has reportedly been closed by the police following the incident. An SBV vehicle had overturned next to the road.

This is a developing story.
