The Free State police continued to crack the whip on protesters in the Theunissen-based Masilonyana Local Municipality after six more people have been arrested at Winburg over the weekend.

Two other suspects were arrested after they were found in possession of suspected stolen couches and three people were arrested for public violence.
Thakeng adds that the six suspects who were arrested over the weekend are expected to appear before the Winburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday. He says the older woman will be facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property, whilst the three suspects, aged 30, 32 and 38, are facing charges of public violence and contravening the Road Traffic Act (93/1996). He adds that a 28-year-old male suspect - who was found in possession of a brown couch valued at R5000 - and a 21-year-old suspect - who was found in possession of a grey couch valued at R2500 - and other suspects are accused of being in possession of suspected stolen property, looted from a truck on the N1 road.
