North West preliminary exams going well─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 12:40 Mon, 05 Sep 2022
The North West Department of Education says that preliminary examinations, which started on 29 August 2022, are going well.
Education MEC Mmaphefo Matsemela says they have been preparing learners throughout the year - with some subjects completed, and others already on a revision program.
43 485 candidates have been registered to sit for these preliminary examinations, including parttime candidates.
Matsemela adds the department will also be holding spring camps, which is customary for North West Education, in order to assist learners, and bridge the content gap in all subjects.
“I am pleased that, despite a hectic start to our academic year in the province where some schools were burnt, we rose above the challenges and continued with our mandate of teaching and learning. Our candidates have been doing well with the papers so far, with no incidents reported. We take this time to also thank the community for allowing learners to write, while pleading with our community to continue assisting us to hold incident free examinations. Most of our schools are done with the syllabus and are administering revision classes,” she said.

The preliminary exams will run until 23 September 2022. The Department has recently been struck by a series of tragedies which resulted in the death of learners.
This past weekend a bus transporting learner from Tumisang Primary School in Letsopa near Ottosdal in North West was reportedly caught fire just outside Stilfontein.
