Lioness loose after load-shedding─── 11:37 Mon, 26 Sep 2022
A lioness is still on the loose in the Free State province, after escaping from a game reserve during load-shedding.
SAPS spokesperson, Loraine Earle, says the lioness was last spotted on Sunday 25 September 2022.
She further explains that a search has been initiated, and that police, along with Nature Conservation, are actively involved.
“It was last seen near the borders of the Willem Pretorius game reserve, several kilometers from where she escaped. It’s about one year old. She grew up with her mother so she didn’t grow up around people. Residents are sternly warned to be careful, and to contact their nearest police station if they have sight of this lioness.”
Earle adds that the lioness escaped in a wildlife enclosure on Friday 23 September 2022, at about 04:00, approximately 5km from Ventersburg towards Virginia.
