Process of replacing ousted Centlec CFO commences─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 10:49 Mon, 24 Oct 2022
Mangaung Metro Municipality’s power utility Centlec has started the process of replacing its ousted Chief Financial Officer (CFO), following a recent court battle in Free State High Court.
This happens while the ousted CFO, Hlonelwa Nkomo, is appealing the dismissal of her case against Malefane Sekoboto to have him declared a delinquent director.
In August 2022, Nkomo was sentenced to 3 months imprisonment by Jugde Joseph Mhlambi after she was found guilty of being in contempt of court. The full order had, however, indicated that the period of imprisonment is wholly suspended for three years on condition that she is not found guilty of contempt of court during this period.
A month later, Nkomo challenged the decision and requested the court to set aside the 3-month suspended sentence that was handed to her. This after stating that she believes another High Court would come to a different conclusion on the matter.

Nkomo also criticised Centlec for allegedly using taxpayers’ money to defend Sekoboto and also said the entity ventured into matters that were not about the entity but about its CEO’s conduct.
She said the civil litigation against Sekoboto had nothing to do with the entity, however, its money was being used to fight his battles and that the interdict against her, filed by Centlec, had no jurisdiction in the case between Sekoboto and her.
In her affidavit disposed in court on 29 June 2022, Nkomo made damning allegations against Sekoboto, indicating that there are no signed minutes of a board meeting of the entity, showing that Sekoboto was employed as such.

On Friday 21 October 2022, the entity fired another senior manager. Imatu's Mangaung representative, Fosi Tsie, alleged that Mahlomola Seleso was fired to cover up the failures of the utility’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Malefane Sekoboto, who was found wanting over an irregular tender.
