Stage 1 and 2 power cuts on the cards for the week─── 08:16 Wed, 02 Nov 2022
Rolling blackouts won't be avoided this week.
Eskom says a delay in the return of generating units at three different power stations has led to generation capacity shortages.

The utility will now implement Stage 1 power cuts from 05:00 to 16:00 and Stage 2 blackouts from 16:00 until 05:00 daily.
Close to 4,00 megawatts have been lost to planned maintenance, with over 14,000 megawatts unavailable due to breakdowns.
Eskom says it will update the public as soon as there are changes.
Spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha says the shutting down of the Komati Power Station will not have a significant impact on the national electricity grid.
As part of Eskom's Just Energy Transition strategy, the power plant will now be converted into a renewable generation site.
