ANC dips below 50% in North West by-election─── 14:32 Thu, 15 Dec 2022
The ANC has failed to win an outright majority in a highly contested by-election in a North West municipality.
The results on the IEC's website show the party received 39.82% of votes in Ditsobotla, a local municipality which has been marked by dysfunctional leadership.
The EFF bagged just under 27% of ballots cast, with the DA registering a return of just under 15%.

The North West MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) earlier in the week told OFM News that the recent handover of title deeds to people of Ditsobotla had nothing to do with municipal elections.
According to the departmental spokesperson, Tumelo Marupeng, on Monday 12 December 2022, the Cogta MEC Nono Maloyi handed over 1700 title deeds as part of the department’s commitment to making sure that a serious backlog on the delivery of title deeds and housing delivery is achieved. In his statement, Maloyi dismissed allegations that were made by the Democratic Alliance suggesting that the handover of title deeds in Ditsobotla was a way of using state resources to buy votes.
