The suspect was arrested on Wednesday 14 December 2022 in Potchefstroom, North West.  This comes after police were informed of a white bakkie that collided with two cyclists but failed to stop. According to the police, one victim was certified dead, while the second victim was taken to hospital.

Police traced the vehicle to the suspect's place and upon arrival, the vehicle was found damaged and with blood stains. The suspect was immediately arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, culpable homicide, and failing to stop after an accident.

The suspect is expected to appear again in court soon after the conclusion of the investigation.
