#GBV: Reward offered as search intensifies for suspect─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 08:07 Wed, 21 Dec 2022
A year after the unresolved rape and murder of a woman (29) in Botshabelo, the Free State police are offering a reward for information that may lead to the arrest of the suspected man (37).
The provincial police communication officer, Sinah Mpakana, said the police found the body of Maleshoane Majola on the floor after they were informed about the murder that took place at Section M, Botshabelo, on 14 December 2021.
Mpakana says the preliminary investigations revealed that the couple was drinking with neighbours on Sunday 12 December 2021 before the suspect, Morena Moleko, chased them away.
According to Mpakana, Moleko was last seen taking a taxi on a nearby road while holding a bag, saying he had found a job. He then called the deceased’s sister, informing her that he had killed the deceased and left her inside the house.
"Moleko is also a wanted suspect as per the warrant of arrest that was issued against him for rape. A reward is promised for any information that can lead to the arrest and successful prosecution of Morena Samson Moleko," she added.
She requested anyone with information to contact Detective Itumeleng Mara on 079-652-8394 or visit the nearest police station.
