Magalies Water’s David Magae said technical personnel have completed repairs.
He said the water supply to the community will stabilise in due course after the pump station is switched back on following the “regrettable and unnecessary incident which compromised the provision of water to the community”.
“Following an incident of cable theft which affected the operation of the raw water pump station intake at Christiana in the Lekwa-Teemane Local Municipality, the technical personnel have completed repairs.
“Magalies Water appreciates the patience of the residents, despite the evident frustration…”
He previously said the municipality does not store cables. Since replacements weren’t immediately available, it caused delays. He said these delays were further compounded by suppliers closing for the festive season.
“However, through cooperation with the local municipality, the cable has been sourced and our technical teams are currently on site installing the cable.
“It is critical to indicate that this material by design does not have a shorter life span or is prone to regular impairments.
