Breaking News: Cash-in-transit reported in North West─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 12:08 Thu, 05 Jan 2023

Gun-wielding men fled with an undisclosed amount of money after a cash-in-transit-heist on the N12 road between Wolmaransstad and Klerksdorp early Thursday morning.
Provincial police spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe, said a group of suspects travelling in four vehicles rammed into a Fidelity cash van that was travelling towards Wolmaransstad from Klerksdorp this morning at about 7:00. The cash van then came to a standstill.
The suspects allegedly bombed the van, took an undisclosed amount of cash, and fled.
Mathe added that the suspects are believed to have fled in the direction of Wolmaransstad with three vehicles, which include a gold-coloured car and two VW Polos. The road was closed to traffic whilst police conducted investigations. She added that suspects fled the scene with firearms belonging to Fidelity's guards. Two rifles have since been recovered.
The two injured guards have been transported to a local hospital.
Mathe has requested the community to report suspects and cautioned that harbouring criminals is a criminal offence.
