This, after an emergency services officer was caught by law enforcement officers allegedly driving an official vehicle for alleged personal reasons.

Departmental spokesperson Tebogo Lekgethwane explains that the incident took place during the festive season when the department needed all its resources to respond to medical emergencies.

"The normal procedure of dealing with this matter will be followed and it include first suspending the official in question to allow investigations to proceed unhindered, then the investigation team will be appointed. The outcome of the investigation will determine the disciplinary processes," he said.

Lekgethwane adds that the department is aware of a video circulating in social media platforms which allegedly shows officials being pulled off the road and being questioned by law enforcement officers.

He pleaded with the public to give the department the space it needs to proceed with investigations.
