Minisiter Kubayi to visit schools in Northern Cape─── 06:11 Tue, 24 Jan 2023
The Minister of Human Settlements, Mmamoloko Kubayi, will visit two schools in the Pixley Ka Seme District Municipality in the Northern Cape to "provide educational and social support" with the resumption of the 2023 school year.
The visit is to take place on Tuesday 24 January 2023.
Kubayi will visit Strydenburg Combined School in the Thembelihle Local Municipality and Phakamisani High School in the Mthanjeni Local Municipality, in her capacity as the District Development Model (DDM) Champion.
The visit follows the announcement of the National Senior Certificate results, which highlighted some improvements across the country. The Northern Cape achieved an overall pass rate of 74,2%.
According to a statement released by the department, "the improved pass rate is encouraging and bolsters government efforts through the DDM’s one-plan approach to prioritise better education, economic growth, employment, improved living conditions, as well as the fight against crime and corruption in localities."
As part of the visit, Kubayi will interact with this year’s matriculants and hand over learning material as per the needs assessment of each school.
She will be joined by the MEC for Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs in the Northern Cape, Bentley Vass, and the District Mayor, Rhoode Itumeleng.
