Kimberley residents wake up to dry taps─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 08:52 Wed, 15 Feb 2023

Northern Cape residents of Roodepan, Kimberley, have been cautioned to brace themselves for a low supply of water as a result of a pipe burst.
The municipal spokesperson Thoko Riet explained the municipality’s water works team has already switched off the water supply to Roodepan, as the repairs have started in Starling Street, next to the Roodepan police station.
She added residents will notice low-pressure or no water in their taps during this process. The team will also repair a pressure valve and water will be restored to the area as soon as all the repairs have been completed.
Water loss due to ageing infrastructure is one of the issues which have raised eyebrows in various municipalities.
OFM News previously reported that 965 pipelines next to the Roodepan area experienced a water loss, resulting in a drop in reservoir levels despite pumping at full capacity.

Residents of Kimberley were without water for four days recently as a result of infrastructure challenges which continue to disrupt the local water supply. Riet said the municipality has since been doing all it can to deal with infrastructure challenges.
