Three brothers die in fire in Jouberton, North West─── LUCKY NKUYANE 11:59 Sun, 12 Mar 2023
The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Jouberton near Klerksdorp in the Matlosana Local Municipality in North West have opened an inquest docket after the burnt bodies of three brothers were discovered on Saturday 11 March 2023.
According to police spokesperson Amanda Funani, the bodies of the brothers aged 17, 19 and 28 were discovered at Extension 10 in Jouberton in the early hours of Saturday.
She says according to information at the police's disposal, the three brothers were asleep when the house caught fire.
Funani says the information further indicates that their neighbours tried to extinguish the fire, but failed.
The brothers were certified dead on the scene.
"The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage and investigations into the matter continue," added Funani.
