The North West MEC for Public Works and Roads, Saliva Molapisi, has given the green light to prioritise and improve the bad condition of the road between Wolmaransstad and Schweizer-Reneke.
OFM News has learned there have been stakeholder engagements between the department, the Maquassi Hills Local Municipality, and the Mamusa Local Municipality.
"Our people have been complaining about the conditions of this road, hence we have resolved to prioritise it," said Molapisi.
According to the information, the process of appointing the contractor is under way, and job opportunities will be created with the project.
Motorists have been unhappy with the state of the R504 for some time now.
During their shutdown protests, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in the North West also called for better roads in the province.
