Free State Health MEC visits Bester cell fire victim’s family─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 10:08 Fri, 28 Apr 2023
Free State MEC for Health, Mathabo Leeto, is expected to visit the bereaved family of 32-year-old Katlego Bereng Mpholo today.
Bereng’s body was used as a decoy in Bester’s much publicised escape from the Mangaung Maximum Correctional Facility, under management of G4S.

Mpholo’s mother was admitted to hospital after viewing his remains at the government mortuary in Bloemfontein, following his disappearance in March 2022.

Earlier this week Mpholo’s father, Batho Mpholo, visited Park Road Police Station to register a case against the Department of Health, the Department of Correctional Services, and G4S. He is demanding answers as to how his son’s body ended up in Bester’s cell.

The father of Thabo Bester's girlfriend – Dr Nandipha Magudumana - has been released on R10 000 bail, while three other co-accused remain in custody.
