When SAPS members were conducting patrols on May 12, they responded to information about drug dealing and unlicensed gun possession at two locations in Prieska.
Search-and-seizure warrants were obtained and the premises were raided, said Sergeant Timothy Sam, police spokesperson.
“The police managed to successfully seize a 9mm pistol, a magazine and ammunition, Mandrax tablets, and cash to the value of R620 – believed to be the proceeds of crime,” said Sam.
He added that a 36-year-old man was charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and dealing in drugs, while a 31-year-old man was charged with dealing in drugs.
Sam said illegal drugs remain a top focus, and the drug trade will continue to be heavily scrutinised and suppressed. The SAPS will continue to prioritise ending the spread of unlicensed firearms.
