Bloemfontein woman (83), whose yard was engulfed by sewage, died─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 12:42 Fri, 30 Jun 2023
Tragedy has struck the family of the 83-year-old Bloemfontein elderly woman whose yard was recently engulfed by raw sewage spillage.
OFM News has been reliably informed that Elizabeth Alam Mkhuane died a week after her yard was finally cleared of raw sewage. Mkhuane’s story came to light when her nephew Frank Mkhuane (63) informed OFM News about the hazardous conditions his aunt was forced to live in.
On Saturday 24 June 2023, a good Samaritan stepped up to assist the family after hearing from OFM about the appalling conditions Mkhuane’s aunt was forced to live with.
Benedict Ngonela, the owner of Bene-Tech plumbing services, immediately heeded the call, cleared the raw sewage from the yard of the 83-year-old, and installed a new sewage pipe system.

“It's with sadness to announce that my aunt passed away. We lost her after being sought for a long time. She was in and out of the hospital and she eventually passed away yesterday. To my family and everyone listening, thank you very much for the support, and thank you very much to the radio and Benedict who helped her. She left her yard very clean after two years of struggling,” said an emotional Frank Mkhuane.
