Steenhuisen announced DA Free State Premier candidate ahead of 2024 elections─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 12:59 Fri, 11 Aug 2023
Roy Jankielsohn will be the DA's Premier candidate for the 2024 national elections.
Jankielsohn has been one of the vocal and lead witnesses in the Vrede Dairy Project corruption hearing at the Zondo Commission. During the party’s media briefing held at Premier Splendid Inn, Bloemfontein this morning, DA Federal leader, John Steenhuisen, announced him as their Free State Premier candidate for the 2024 national elections. Jankielsohn welcomed the confidence entrusted to him by the party.
“Thank you, John, I want to thank the party for entrusting me with the important task of being a premier candidate and I am also grateful that our federal leader has also chosen the first strategic province to announce this in the Free State.”

“John travelled with us explaining the moonshot pact, which is strategically important for South Africa and something visionary that John has brought to the country which is going to change the electoral politics and the system in South Africa.”
Jankielsohn said he is hopeful this new strategy brought by the party leader will help unseat the leading party come the 2024 elections. The Free State will emulate what the DA has done in Western Cape.
“You mentioned some of the things that are wrong in the Free State, unfortunately like state capture. What the ANC has brought is what people remember when they talk about the Free State. We want to bring something new something more memorable to the Free State and we want to put Free State on the trajectory of growth.”
He said their plans to govern in the Free State are already in place and detailed that they will address road infrastructure challenges to attract investors.
