Unease over North West's newly launched service delivery programme─── 08:00 Sun, 13 Aug 2023

North West provincial government's newly launched accelerated service delivery programme "Thuntsa Lerole" has opposition parties uneasy. It was launched by acting premier Nono Maloyi.
The programme was launched a week ago in the Mamusa Local Municipality and was in Madibeng in the Bojanala district on Friday. Amongst others, the programme intends to address illegal dumping sites, patching of potholes, and water shortages.
EFF spokesperson in North West, Fanon Moema, told OFM News that Maloyi should have started by fixing the blockage in his Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, and stopped creating an impression of a working government at the last minute.
Meanwhile, speaking to OFM News whist in Madibeng, a spokesperson to Premier Sello Tatai said residents are receiving the programme well and are happy about it. He said this programme is one of the key issues that Bushy Maape spoke about in his State of the Province Address.

DA provincial chairperson Freddy Sonakile said this is a similar programme done by Supra Mahumapelo, which was called Setsokotsane, citing that it is a wasteful expenditure of taxpayers' money.
Sonakile said it's surprising that Maloyi launched the programme while in an acting capacity, raising questions on his long-term vision of it and accountability. The programme is expected to visit Dr Kenneth Kaunda District and Ngaka Modiri Molema District next.
