Two children, aged 4 and 8, have lost their lives in a fire at Marabastad, Kroonstad, in the Free State.
Councillor Adriaan Botha of Ward 13 at the Moqhaka Municipality said on Facebook he had learned of the death of the two minors of the Hlalele family who burned beyond recognition in the fire. Another two children, aged 12 and 17, have been injured badly by the fire and have been hospitalised at the Pelonomi Hospital. It is unclear at the moment when the fire occurred. Botha will be visiting the family soon.

Meanwhile, acting Free State Premier, MaQueen Letsoha–Mathae, visited two different families in Mangaung after losing their loved ones. She first visited the family in Khayelitsha, near Bloemfontein, where two shacks caught on fire. The fire, which happened on Sunday (3/9) claimed the lives of three people – two children aged three and five, and an elderly man.
