“What has motivated us to always do these types of programmes, is due to the skills being in high demand. There is a lack of people with the necessary skills in the province.”

The C3 Auto Body Repair Academy is looking for applicants who are interested in being accredited artisans in Auto Body Repairs or automotive Spray Painting.

Busisiwe Maile, managing director at the academy, said the programme will run for a total of 36 months, but it will be in phases. Applicants who will be part of the first phase have to complete it successfully within five to seven months, the successful ones will move on to the second phase.

“The first phase will focus on equipping applicants with the necessary and basic skills they need to know as qualified artisans in Auto Body Repairs or automotive Spray Painting.”

The second phase will be more practical, as the successful applicants from the first phase will receive work placement at different workshops in the Free State, or Gauteng. Maile added some of the successful applicants may receive work placement in the Northern Cape. The academy believes in doing so, the applicants will get the full experience of the industry.

“What has motivated us to always do these types of programmes, is due to the skills being in high demand. There is a lack of people with the necessary skills in the province.” Maile said when applicants have successfully completed the programme, they will be viewed as individuals groomed in the industry, in the best possible way.

She hopes with the necessary skills they would have received from the programme, they will be able to implement those in opening their own automotive workshops or being in positions of management at different workshops. But what fulfills her is that the applicants would have started from the bottom, from knowing how do to things, even though they will be in leadership positions in the future.

She added that in the next few weeks, there will be candidates who will be completing their 36 months from a previous programme. “They are not qualified yet, however, they have received job offers both in the Free State and Gauteng at the places they used to do their practicals.”

Those who have passed Grade 10, are 18 –30 years old, and require financial assistance (household income less than R80 000 per annum), are called to be part of the C3 Auto Body Repair Academy.
